Cool big new brewery we tried on our trip through Iowa. The have crispy fried cauliflower wings you can get tumbled un sauces or we got it and dipped in ranch. We could not figure out the breading and had to ask. Rice flour and water. So it tasted like cauliflower still but made it really crispy. And focaccia bread was good thick tomato soup. Now beers we tried 6 with the flight and 2 more I really liked the sours hubby had the Amber. We missed the band that was getting ready to play. But we will be back.

Big Grove has a lively but relaxed atmosphere where people seem equally focused on food and conversation. I ordered a smash burger and it came out juicy with a nicely toasted bun and a flavor that felt straightforward but well executed. I also had the pretzel with beer cheese which was soft inside with a slight chew on the outside. The beer cheese added richness without overpowering it. A side salad helped balance things out and kept the meal from feeling too heavy. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for a while without feeling rushed, whether you’re there for food, drinks, or both.

Great patio for the summer, but also a solid indoor space. Great selection of beers at reasonable costs. Food is fine. It tends to get super busy, so expect a bit of wait time to get service.

What can I say, Big Grove Iowa City is the best! We enjoy the food, beer and atmosphere here the most out of all the Big Groves. This location has an extensive outdoor area, relaxed atmosphere, and patient and kind servers. The food is always awesome and I love how pet friendly this location is! We will be back, this location is totally worth the drive!!

This is a nice looking, inside and out, brewery serving some very good beers. Many different styles on tap, and flights are an excellent avenue to give several different beers a try without breaking the bank or your (gut) wallet. Outdoor space had (lit) firepits, and the inside was roomy, clean, and easily accessible. Beertenders were solid w/info and service. A decent amount of parking spaces available. But in the warm weather months, parking could be more of an issue. Perfect spot for after work meetings, too.
